What are actions?

Actions are designed for Adobe Photoshop and are delivered as an .ATN file.  When you press “play” on an action, it will follow a set of instructions or commands to enhance or alter your image.  We have spent years developing our actions and presets, and each set we create is based on years of photography and post-production experience.

I am having trouble getting good results from these actions/presets, why?

The results from our actions/presets greatly depend on the “quality” of the original image.  Our actions/presets are designed to enhance images that are already properly exposed and color corrected.  They will not “fix” a poorly exposed image, or an image with improper white balance.  Please read our free "Guide to Beautiful Images" for tips on post-production.

What are Presets?

Presets or Develop Presets, are custom settings used in Adobe Lightroom to produce particular effect on your images.  You simply click the Preset and it will automatically adjust the settings on your image to create a certain look/tone.  Using presets will not only speed up your workflow, it will also provide consistency in your work.

Will the Lr Presets work on Both JPG and RAW files?

Yes, the presets will work on any image file that can be imported in Lightroom.

Will these Presets work on various camera platforms, for example: Nikon, Canon, Pentax, etc.?

Yes, our presets will work on any RAW or JPG file that can be imported into Lightroom.  We use the Camera Standard Calibration, which we feel works incredibly well for the various systems on the market.  We test our presets on numerous RAW files from a variety of cameras prior to releasing them.  In our opinion, the key to great results has more to do with the actual capture (lighting, exposure, white balance) vs the camera it was captured on.

Some of the Preset packages come with an ACR set as well, what are ACR files?

ACR or Adobe Camera Raw comes installed with Photoshop.  Unlike actions, you will access these in the Camera Raw panel when opening RAW files into Photoshop.  For more information on ACR, please visit the Adobe page.

Do the actions look exactly the same as the presets from the same set?

No, although we have tried to make the sets look similar, they are not exactly the same. Since actions run on Photoshop and edit in a different manner vs Lightroom, they cannot be created to look exactly the same.

Is it possible to try a sample before I buy the whole set?

We do not offer sample presets or actions at this time. We do have numerous before and after examples that demonstrate how the individual sets look when applied. You can also join our Facebook User Group and request to have certain presets be tested on your images. We have more information on this under the "explore" tab in the top menu.
